Near my house I saw two large blocky buildings being constructed on a main thoroughfare. Different construction companies, but within about 100 yards of each other.

"Fantastic!", I thought. New apartment buildings. That means new restaurants, stores, and other conveniences. Not to mention desperately-needed housing.

I'll never forget my despair upon learning that they were BOTH going to be large multi-level self-storage facilities.

Don’t dox yourself but this sounds just like Irvine, CA. It feels like every two years I see a new track of homes + block storage facilities being built

		I'm on the other side of the country, and I can watch new super deluxe drive-thru carwashes being built with a storage facility neighbor. The crazy part being two blocks over is a competing super deluxe-carwash with storage facility neighbor. At this point my city is up to dozens of these pairs of property squatting businesses.
