Not sure if this is some kind of Baader-Meinhof phenomenon or if OP just also did the NYT crossword this morning.

Because Ceuta has been all over the news, Morocco's other weird border is getting attention.

It also showed up in the discourse thanks to Christopher Nolan controversially filming parts of The Odyssey there.

And related to what happened in Ceuta recently. "The Moroccans orchestrated a similar cross-border influx in 2021 in retaliation for Spain’s allowing Western Sahara President Brahim Ghali, whose nation Morocco claims for itself, into the country for medical treatment." https://www.thenation.com/article/world/ceuta-spain-morocco-...

I play GeoGrid quite regularly and Western Sahara works well to score rare low-point answers. So I was a bit surprised to see it here as well.

Thank you! I ran into this a ton in college, and still do sometimes with new (to me) authors. I was confident about what was happening, but it's nice to know it's a documented phenomenon.

Same, but it was a video diving deep into the recent news about the surge of refugees into Spain -- very enlightening.

Found it. It's Cody Dahler who is a cheeky commenter on "current events" -- he's worth watching. Couldn't find it on YT so FB it is:
