Why would they do that? It seems to have prevented UTM (there's a linked tweet[0].)

They used to have a policy of no emulators, I think. But if they shipped a hypervisor why remove it?

Every time I see what people achieve when jailbreaking, it makes me think that nothing would be healthier than forcing iOS to be unlocked and even fully open source.

		ipad os 26 has some opportunity, some research(google "ios26-hypervisor-research") indicates that apple add hypervisor back at ios/ipados 26, since latest security features relies on it

You know, you can just use the iPad as a separate display for macOS. Once I tried this, I realized it doesn’t make sense to use menus and windows without the mouse, and then you’ve invented…laptops.

Yeah, the problem is that Apple doesn't acknowledge the convenience of Android/Windows ecosystem of 2-1 devices, as it would hurt their laptop sales.

So the community comes up with gimmicks like these.

Notice also how Macs lack touchscreens or data modems, available on the other ecosystems for at least a decade now.

When I configured a Lenovo T580, I chose a touchscreen. The screen had very nice resolution and performance, and it was kind of crazy how many pointing devices were default, from the Trackpoint stick, to the trackpad and the touchscreen too.

I chronically forgot that I had a touchscreen at all. Using Fedora or Windows alike, I was basically never inspired to tap on the screen, rather than using the trackpad. So that was probably the most neglected feature in the entire system, especially considering that I paid extra for it!

I also had the option of a WWAN module. It would've required a SIM card and a mobile account. I was sure I didn't want to pay monthly for such a thing, and I did not envision any circumstance when I would want or need mobile data, if I already had WiFi built in.

This prediction played out as expected, and I never did need or want WWAN, except one time for 30 minutes at a bus stop in town. Compared to the 6 years of service I got from the T580, I'd say that configuration was the right choice.

Sure. But a more compact one. One you can easily take with you and use as an iPad. And when you want to work properly, you just connect the usb cable at your desk for the monitor and keyboard

No need to drag the keyboard with you all the time. And it’s kind of nice to have a touch screen.
