What about exercise machines ?

That doesn't really make sense. Assuming the effort is the same, how does laziness enter into it? There are myriad reasons someone might use stationary exercise machines over going outside - weather, bad neighbors, etc. Lazy doesn't make sense as one of them.

What about the elliptical ?

What about it? You might need to do multiple different exercises outside to mimic it

Which exercise outside mimics that movement while simultaneously being so easy on the joints ?

Anyway this is just silly, we are splitting hairs. A lot of machines have a functional purpose and do not exist for the lazy. The LHC, ships, thousands of examples.

Aren't ships just for people too lazy to swim and the large hadron collider for physicists that are too lazy to hand-accelerate particles and make them collide with 13.6 TeV of energy? /s
