Assertions about entire countries from an outside perspective is common on the internet. As someone with family in two different countries I’ve become sensitized to it and I see it all the time. Just like stereotype-based humor about gender or race, it has to be done really well or it is (to me) annoying. Usually it rests on reductive ideas that are driven by media imagery rather than experience. “Americans are fat! Ha ha”. Or “Spanish people are always late! Ho ho.” | ||||||||||||||
