I love how we ostensibly have rights but the exercising of rights is used by Law Enforcement as justification to do whatever the hell they wanted anyway.

Land of the free indeed.

Foreign countries have no obligation to admit you within their borders.

There’s many points you could make about the United States and immigration, but I don’t think this is one of them.

Whataboutism with respect to other nations’ immigration rules is so lazy.

As Americans we have ideals and standards that we all grew up being taught and believing, we shouldn’t be participating in a race to the bottom.

There’s absolutely no reason why foreign nationals should be made to divulge the contents of their personal devices carte Blanche. Any search should be targeted based on a reasonable suspicion of that specific individual. This is the American tradition, these are American ideals. Asserting otherwise is unpatriotic.

He's not talking about other nations, he's talking about the US and saying if you are not a citizen of a nation, its a foreign nation to you and they have no obligation to let you in.

There are many contexts where this comment would apply, but border crossing is not one of them. If you're a foreigner trying to enter another country, then by definition you have less rights than natives.

There is a solution to this. You can become a US citizen.

Another option is that we can treat our guests better.

Wait people who are not US citizens/residents have a right to enter the US? Wow that's crazy. I knew y'all were liberal but I don't know you are that liberal. No other country I know of gives non citizens/residents a right to enter.

Who said anything about a “right to enter”? This is just about not massively invading visitors’ privacy for no good reason.

Of course, if you just don’t want anyone with intelligence or dignity to visit the country, this is great policy.

Are you talking about Australia or Canada?
