This is a cut down OS to run the UniFi Network app on. The UniFi Network app is the controller that UniFi devices e.g. switches, routers, AP's register to and provides the management capabilities. You can currently run this app on most OS's. I guess this new OS is to reduce the support overhead of running your own controller. Any maybe enable some nice third party custom controller hardware. Also, there are some features you only get when you use one of their cloud hosted controllers which this OS enables for the app anyone can self host. But the big drawback is no adoption of the router/cloud gateways. | ||||||||||||||
