No, the dot was inside the quotes on purpose. If you want to go the typographic way, you have the wrong kind of single quotes in your message (' vs. ’) and of course the wrong kind of double quotes. Having the comma outside the quotes is considered ok-ish, especially in the programming world, but it should usually be inside. Regarding the missing dot for your final sentence it’s alright; the smiley can sometimes be considered a replacement for it. | |||||||||||||||||

Depending on your typographic conventions, it's customary to include final punctuation inside of parens and quotations. It irks computer programmers, I guess, but people used to do this for aesthetic reasons for books. | |||||||||||||||||
