Swartz's passing was the original reason I made a Hacker News account (at the time it was one of the few places that had discussion about it) I was so outraged by the ridiculousness of the prosecution of someone that simply downloaded a few million pdfs. Now compared to AI companies his crime looks like stealing (downloading isn't stealing) a handful of 5 cent candies compared to them stealing the Mona Lisa.
