I mean, personally, I would use atleast 2-5x more tokens if they were cheaper.

Most people seem to be fudging around with reasoning levels to get through the day and that's pretty telling.

But what I'm saying is that they're not going to become 2-5x cheaper if the constraining factor isn't supply. The companies are definitely not acting they're short on compute - otherwise you'd see queues, much more stringent rate-limiting, paying for priority and similar measures. I maintain that the buildout is more about servicing hype and crazy projections than what we actually need today.

“ otherwise you'd see queues, much more stringent rate-limiting, paying for priority and similar measures.”

You’re not seeing this? I just had a 20 minute conversation with an engineer about how he’s managing his Codex resets and optimizing his workflow to work around the ways Claude limits his work. It’s extremely stringent rate limiting and you have to pay a lot more for priority pro plans.

Like yes it could be worse, they could just limit customers but that’s exactly what I’m hoping to avoid.
