The strongest chinese models from DeepSeek, Kimi and z.ai are already good enough to run for hours on most coding tasks cheaply.

For capital to win they need to get their money out of Anthropic before the bubble deflates. This means dumping the risk on retail. There is only a finite amount of money available to buy AI stock, and the SpaceX IPO sucked a lot up, so it's a fight between Anthropic and OpenAI who is going to get what's left. The loser is left without a chair to stand on when the music stops.
