Reminds me of a lesson from my motorcycle instructor: “When you see an obstacle in the road that you have to dodge, keep your eyes on the place you want to end up, not on the obstacle as you steer away from it, lest your body unconsciously steers you right back into it.”

It’s not a perfect metaphor, but I think of it often to remind myself not to focus on the outcome I desperately want to avoid.
