If the Brazilian judicial system had any integrity the proper thing would be to disbar those lawyers and their law firms permanently, not fine them, unless said judicial system is more interested in earning money from fines rather justice.

If the Brazilian justice system had any integrity, it would not be illegal to attempt to catch the court shirking its duties. A note would be made of whether the court was or was not shirking its duties, and if it was, the court would be punished.

> If the Brazilian justice system had any integrity [...] the court would be punished.

Where to begin...

The Brazilian supreme court essentially runs the country monocratically alongside the executive, bypassing the senate and congress.

We had to elect enough opposition senators to form an absolute majority in the senate with the explicit goal of impeaching the supreme court judges for infinitely worse violations than this.

Even after this herculean effort, nothing is guaranteed. The judges are nearly omnipotent and might just find a crime to hang our senators with before 2027. The crime of the day is foreign influence: they accuse our senators of having been financed by Americans.

Integrity has left this country a long time ago.

> they accuse our senators of having been financed by Americans.

Oh no, they pointed out things that are happening: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/sep/30/trump-state-...

Nothing new under the soon. Their side was financed by USAID too. If they're going to hang people for that, they need to do it to both parties and themselves.

So you first argued that the courts were using false charges of foreign influence as a political weapon. Now you say that the charges are correct?

Selective enforcement is a pretty good political weapon

In America, the court systems are overwhelmed. The majority of cases are plea-bargained because the court doesn't have the capacity to hear them all. "Shirking duties?" Having an AI help (and I mean 'help', not 'be solely responsible') to identify the cases that deserve attention is stepping up to it's duties, IMHO.

And ... I didn't read this as an attempt to catch the court shirking it's duties. They weren't going to report the court, they were just going to take advantage of having achieved a low profile for the case.

The fine they applied is equivalent to 1~2 weeks of work from a judge.
