I have a solution, but I don't think people will appreciate it, because:

1) it is very analog 2) requires work from both student and teacher 3) there is no AI in it 4) there is not money to made on it 5) all of the above

In short, do what my MBA class did. At home you study the examples, the how behind it and possible solutions. In class, you may be called in front of the class to show that you know what you are doing.

Is it hard? Yeah, but it is kinda the point.

Teachers with small classes tend to do this. "Come up and do these problems on the whiteboard," et cetera.
