AI labs are focusing on automating and accelerating AI research, because that will accelerate AI development in other fields. Claims that non-tech topics are harder to train for are wildly over stated in this thread. Labs are focused on beating each other to RSI, and training on tasks that do not support that are a lost opportunity cost.
