No they are not. There are plenty of websites where you can download Disney content for free. They think they are a monopoly because they've won the legal right to keep these websites off Google.

Monopolies exist when adding more variables in categorizing business that are perceived to be competing against others. When removing these variables, the false argument that monopolies don't exit can be propagated.

When I think of streaming services being owned by content producers, I think of the 1940s push to bar content producers from owning movie theaters. Unfortunately that anti-trust decree was removed in 2020 in support of big businesses. [0]

This is why content producers, like Disney, should not be able to run streaming services. They are no different then the movie theater owners before digital access.

USA keeps repealing anti-trust laws and allowing business to get bigger and more corrupt. This allows them to maximize their wealth by reducing competition. USA has become a Corporatocracy through the actions of putting big business ahead of their citizens.
