You have more patience and perseverance than I do, to tackle this kind of outright misunderstanding (or falsehood). I am exhausted. Facts and narratives intertwine and build on each other, but people hand-waive away the nuance and reach immediately for the easy surface explanation. For example, the glib defense of the Jan6 rioters was that they couldn't ever "take over the government" by merely occupying the Capitol, it's laughable to even believe that. That's not the plan, the plan was to disrupt and delay the electoral vote counting process, and force the election into the House where the Rs have the majority. But, for me to explain this would take 5, 10 minutes of persuasion, and the person has to be open to persuasion, and understand electoral procedure, and there must be mutual good will between me and him. This is not the world I live in, so I just shut up and move on. I wish direct karma is more visible in this world, eg. if you act on your belief in X, the outcome would immediately resolve whether your believed rightly or wrongly. > "war is the truest form of divination. It is the testing of one’s will and the will of another within that larger will which because it binds them is therefore forced to select." Judge Holden, Blood Meridian ... instead, we have this state where a disastrously wrong belief occupies the same plane as the right belief in the facts, that is, there is no disincentive to believe the wrong thing, and no incentive to find the right thing. I'm exhausted trying to find ways to explain, and now I don't. | ||
