You mean Windows desktops, because Steam hardware depends on Windows game developers as source of games.

Even consoles still rely on gamedevs running Windows to do the actual development. No reason steam boxes won't end up as a native target for those same developers, assuming Valve plays their cards right

		The difference being no AAA studios are targeting Proton on purpose. As for Valve itself, many probably won't find Valve that great when the new management generation takes over, and is no longer Gabe calling the shots.
