Lovely article, and something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. There is some amazing (evidence and strength based) stuff on both parenting and schooling from Dr Billy Garvey [1] that I really can’t recommend highly enough. He just published a book specifically on raising boys too (which I haven’t read yet). But seeing as the comments are answering the title question (and because I haven’t seen these mentioned yet), I’ll offer my 2c: I hope to teach my son to embrace his emotions (all of them), to process those emotions in an healthy way, to ask for help when he needs it (without guilt or shame), to value practice (not success) and to play. I think everything else will follow. | ||
