"full Internet access" is a term you brought here out of nowhere and is what your whole faulty premise hinges on.

The exact meaning isn't important. The point is that something like RS-422 with the TX lines removed is perfectly adequate for receiving pricing updates. Anything more complex than that is adding unnecessary attack surface.
