The book starts out thousands of years after it's all over... but later books (prequels) get into into it for us die-hard followers of the series.

		The "later books" the "prequels" are not written by Frank Herbert, they're written by his son Brian and SF author Kevin J. Anderson. And not like Christopher Tolkien editing his father's notes, but a completely separate series with nothing in common with the original work.
