Just now, I kid you not:

I was in bed, a little away from my MacBook on the desk that was playing some music.

I opened Apple's official Remote app on my iPhone, that lets you control your Mac's Music app.

Both devices were on the same WiFi network and same Apple ID, but Remote was unable to find the Mac. When it did, it was unable to connect.

I opened the ChatGPT app on my iPhone. Went into Codex mode. Asked the ChatGPT running on my Mac to control the Music app to play a different playlist.

Worked within seconds.

Gosh these decrepit giants deserve the unprecedented disruption that's coming for their ass.

Unprecedented disruption of something you could have asked Siri to do a decade ago?

You must have missed the news about how Siri is so shit now that it can't even set a timer on the Apple Watch because it can't find a "Clock app"

Also:

- When there's multiple Apple devices in the same room, your Siri command doesn't always get intercepted by your intended target. Have you even used Siri in these situations?

- Siri doesn't let you see all your playlists etc like the Remote app does.

- The official app meant for this exact purpose failed to work.

- Codex can remote control every fucking app, not just Music, even those without Siri "hooks"

Apple is no longer the "It just works" and hasn't been for years. Read the room and smell the discontent

> Have you even used Siri in these situations?

Yeah, I’ve got all the Apple stuff. Works fine in this situation 99% of the time. But if you have an idea about how they could make something that ambiguous 100% reliable you should write it up.
