I don't know how to explain this style exactly. I think it's supposed to sound grizzled or cynical or jaded or something. It reads like they're trying to do an impression of Tracer Bullet from C&H:

> Yeah, that's me, Tracer Bullet. I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon. The drink packs a wallop, and I pack a revolver. I'm a private eye.

Anyway, it's amusing when Bill Waterson does it but when I'm hoping to read something interesting about how malware is implemented it's a little less fun.
