I get the sadness (and, as a software engineer, certainly feel a real existential threat myself) and feeling diminished, but at the end of the day that is all just ego and I very my agree with the end of the article - who cares who came up with it and on what shoulders we stand, as long as it is saving lives and improving our understanding of the universe!
