I always wonder to what degree these omissions are really accidents. There must be some fraction where 'the hacker did it' was baked in from day #1. Not saying that that is the case here but I've seen some pretty questionable stuff that is supposedly very secure (bank security tokens for instance), where there was ample space left in the devices and no anti-tamper measures beyond the case being glued shut. Some even have replaceable batteries for convenient access to the interior right behind the keyboard.
