I'm an atheist, and have been for over 40 years. I believe that these Religious Scholars are scholars of a thing that is not a thing. I wonder what their view of my moral status is, and whether it differs significantly from their pronouncements about the status of ai models?

They don't think you have less moral status than other humans, including religious ones.

Religious scholars(at least Abrahamic ones) hold the position that morality is not exclusive to their faith. While they may not process the fullness of the faith.

Furthermore, they can’t make a judgement regarding the state of the soul as it is not possible to know what is truly in their heart.

Hence the story of Christ absolving the thief on the cross.

Anyone can reach salvation but following the faith is the guide.

Then why the prevalence of religious people, I wonder? There seem to have been few (only one is mentioned) representatives of a secular or humanist perspective.

Turns out it’s very difficult to make a philosophical case for morality without presupposing the existence of a God.

no it’s not. that’s the whole point of humanism.
