It's not an unsympathetic position. macOS' current direction is controversial; many people want an alternative. They see Linux less as a hacking curiosity and more of an escape hatch. Even with years of excellent, tireless reverse-engineering, Asahi's power management for M1 is not on-par with macOS, let alone what AMD/Intel chipsets get on Linux day-1. It's just inevitable that the hacking efforts will fragment into a fast-and-loose vs slow-and-steady mentality. And both of them will be equally right, since there is no official support for any of this hardware. | ||||||||
