I very much doubt it'll happen. Not with the current US leadership. And the technology oligarchy will do anything to keep the current leadership in power because if they don't, they are quite possibly fucked.

The orange man is the figurehead for a problem. There are other orange men.

Definitely, but no one is putting up their hand right now. When his time is finally up, whoever takes over is going to have to rebuild 40 years of foreign relations.

In some ways, the US will be treated the same way Germany was after WWII.

I don't think its realistic to expect things will revert, ever. This is new era that will continue, things could improve a bit in best case scenario but damage is permanent and hard lessons are being learned. What good is a peer that has roughly the same values and approach to freedom/democracy/capitalism if it keeps stabbing you in the back randomly on morning whims or plain old corruption.

US shot itself in both feet with sawed-off 2 barrel shotgun, in times when it needs allies the most. I keep saying it and only half joking - trump is a China asset way more than russian 'krasnov' agent, at this point its way too much self-damage to be accidental.

"Never" is certainly plausible, even with good outcomes in the next two elections, in the same kind of way that the British Empire never really recovered from WW1 because that was followed quickly by the Great Depression then WW2.

The same industrial realities that had allowed Germany to alternate from "and also" -> "existential threat" -> "reparations" -> "existential threat" -> "suppressed" -> "Wirtschaftswunder" on such short timescales also applied to all the freedom fighters in the nations of the Empire.

A similar process also means the world is much less dependent on the USA for high-tech production than it used to be; and mass production outside the USA has changed what can be done with high-tech production, with the current US military posture being meant for a small number of powerful weapons, rather than saturation attacks with drones replacing shells on both range and rate of fire and apparently not being hugely more expensive than shells.
