Take a trip to Alaska, northern BC, Norway, etc.

There's a particular observatory in Hawaii that is supposed to be amazing.

I'm sure there's plenty of other spots!

Seriously. I moved here. Even northern lights can be elusive due to this (plus, I live in a city). And where I live, I can read outside at night so the best time to see dark is during the cold times.

But more to the point, there is a lot of light pollution here. The best places are inland and plenty of other places get much darker. If you want to check out dark places, I've linked a light pollution map.
