What you consider “losing money” I might consider “choosing not to participate in an ongoing global financial scam at the cost of my retirement growing slightly slower for a while”.

The behavior of gamblers is a poor measure of ... well, anything. People listen to experts because of their expertise, not because they gambled their money on a bet.
