While I detest Elon and the fact that Twitter is now filled to the brim with neo-Nazis and tankies and other nutjobs, unfortunately every single other social media site is far inferior for up-to-date tech and AI things. Bluesky doesn't come close, even if you try to curate things to avoid all the anti-AI/anti-tech people. There is no other game in town, and I expect this will be the case even in a decade from now.

If I worked in the field, AI or crypto, then ok, but for HN posts? People can't expect users to join twitter just to see their content. This is rude and it's not like people need to leave twitter altogether, just repost on mastodon or bluesky and add the links to the HN posts. If posters can't bother doing this I don't feel like I should bother reading them.

I'd rather miss out a post about fonts than lend my support to nazism.

Personally, I don't buy the "i have to use Twitter, there's no good enough alternative" argument: we're talking about tweets, not some life-saving technology we can't live without.
