The lesson I take away from Tesla is going for the extremum: if you're going to be BEV, don't compromise. Toyota is ignoring that with a "platform that supports all powertrains, including pure electric".

Tesla doesnt have offering in 30k market, which is likely different story, design and component sharing is important to cut cost. Also, Teslas are premium segment, thus can afford to go extreme.

You can buy the Model 3 for $37k, which is not far off $30k, and definitely not in the premium segment.

		I think that non-premium 37k model is available for few months only? I can argue that its subproduct of premium segment infra/design.

		Yeah the M3 is the low-medium budget EV to beat (in US market). A few are cheaper (equinox, bolt, leaf), but most are at that price or higher.
