You really can't see why this can't be applied to abortion as well? I'm not even against abortion and I can see the problem with what's essentially "if you you disagree with them enough you don't have to respect them".

The anti abortion people have already done that. They harass women and bomb clinics. They don't respect women and actively work to have their rights taken away. So I don't really care about them, nor do I respect them. The same way I will not respect the wannabe little lords in city councils like this.
