someone I know related her grandmothers experience at the end of WW2 when the NAZI's were defeated but there was no food, and releaf collumns of US soldiers were distributing aid, which the populous misstook/interpreted as 'cake' as the bread in that era was dense nutritios food, and american 'bread' resembled nothing other than cake in bieng a light spongy white loaf suitable for a desert. there is a tie in here, but like that war and it's cake, the present will be missunderstood for generations to come.
