The late Professor Patrick Winston, of MIT 6.034 - Artificial Intelligence -, was the author of optimizing software for planes routes on land. Deterministic, of course: Prof. Winston stated (up to the Convolutional Networks revolution) that "Neural Networks can do everything, but worse than deterministic algorithms". It is a sad phenomenon to see articles speaking of AI and not clarifying immediately if it is deterministic, non-deterministic, "special", whatever; if the solution is optimal, local maximum etc. To speak of "AI" that way is a big bucket that makes no sense. | ||
