There's a difference between when people have a platform. Made a mistake 10 years ago? Fine.

But that's very different than using your huge platform today to spread your hate.

Pretending those two are the same is dangerous. One of them does actual harm today.

I am sorry but that isn't the case. There will be people bringing this stuff up constantly for years to come. This happens all the time. Someone will dig through some old forums/news group/twitter posts that someone made and use that as a stick to beat them with.

I care about people committing serious crimes, not that they've expressed an opinion I disagree with.

I severely doubt he has any ability to enact any serious political change in the UK. You would have to prove to me he can change elections and/or enact policy.

Making discussion impossible by calling everyone a fascist/racist/nazi or whatever that has political views you disagree with is dangerous. Anti-immigration sentiment is rising in the UK because there has been quite a number of high profile incidents where women and/or children have been harmed or killed. One of these incidents my own mother was involved in (I can't give more details than that).

I am pretty much bang on in the centre politically and if I try to even steelman the opposing sides arguments (on both the left and the right) I will have people berating me.

This is not about digging up some old careless post. It’s about his current views which he posts proudly online.

I’ll note your post pulls a classic trick:

- these views are not that important to who he is

- anyway even if he did hold those views it’s not that big of a deal

- but also I agree with those views (even tho I am but a humble, reasonable centrist)

I never said I agree with them. I said why the sentiment exists and why it is becoming more broadly accepted. I am quite happy to talk politely about any issue that I believe I can have some input on, but I do not appreciate you alluding that I am some sort of secret fascist. I've been down the political rabbit hole years ago and came to the conclusion I had been manipulated and lied to (by both the right and the left). After that I try to pay as little attention to politics as possible as it is outside of my locus of control.

Why are you comparing someone that said a mild anti-abort thing to DHH tho? can you describe with your words what is DHH main talking points? mild racism? mild eugenics?

		Because any right of centre sentiment is often called fascist. DHH has a blog post where he explains his views. You can look there for yourself. I read it the blog post that is frequently cited some time ago and it was standard anti-immigration talking points that been floating around Conservative spaces for quite some time now.
