Religious flamewar is not ok on Hacker News, regardless of religion. No more of this please.

I realize that this thread has many ways of degenerating but what you posted here was particularly pure flamebait.

We detached this subthread from https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49660220.

Ok, I accept being deleted by moderator. Not intend to flamebait.

But why on 9/11 have front page about Houthis, many comments supporting them and others apparent unknowing who they are?

*Religious law is bad everywhere. Sadly Halakha is becoming the norm in once liberal Israel.

Nonsense, Halakha provides much stronger protections for how prisoners of war should be treated.

Wait until you compare Sharia law to laws proposed by evangelicals in the USA

Are you 11 or something?

Their other opponents, namely the US & Israel, killing thousands innocent of people every year, yet you don't really mind.

More than one thing can be bad at once. Opposing unprovoked wars and illegal West Bank settlements doesn't make theocratic law any less bad.

bandofthehawk 2 hours ago | parent [-]

Sure, but the scale of violence committed by the US and allies is very large. Are there theocratic states recently committing similar levels of violence? Too often in the past, the oppression done by Middle Eastern governments is used to build political support for their destruction by the West.

Iran is known to have killed at least 10,000 of their own people just this year. The US has done bad too, but the scale isn't nearly as large.

This year.

... so far.

All sides are bad.

Why do you have to immediately redirect

Are you sensitive to this topic or something?

This is bad faith and not a serious position.

During WW2, the Allies used flame throwers for goodness sake and killed a lot of innocent people taking Europe back from the Nazis.

If you made this argument in the 1940s, you would've been dragged out of your home and beaten half to death. And it would be for good reason. :)

There's no pseudo-intellectual moral argument that stands up to might-is-right. In the real world, that's how it works, regardless how much you disagree.
