Noah Smith isn't an expert in computer science either, he's just some online guy who posts a lot about his opinions. He used to have semi-decent takes but at some point in the past few years he went completely off the rails. | ||||||||

It's much simpler than that: You don't have to be an expert on anything to be a complete dunce in everything else. Hardly rare enough to call it a "phenomenon" | ||||||||
