I worked with people who totally missed the sarcasm and satire in Parker & Stone's Team America World Police and legit thought it was just a cool action movie about America kicking the world's ass. It's the same reason I can't watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Rick & Morty anymore, despite them being great shows. The parts they're lampooning are the parts most celebrated. Or another example is Springsteens "Born in the USA" being played at so many political rallies: Reagan, Dole, Buchanan, Trump (without permission). | ||||||||
