It's so cute the US readers throw all of europe into one basket. The economically biggest european nation, Germany, has a health system where the federal government spent almost no money on health care. We have insurances, lots of them. Some of them for-profit, some of them non-profit. So employers and employees finance the vast majority. (Truth be told: a good amount of hospitals are in the hand of municipalities, countries or universities. So governmental funding also arrives there. But that is not at federal level, e.g. universities are financed by the 16 states.) That you guys confuse a mandatory insurance system always with federal funded is beyond me.
