Of course one pays for the actual electronic device, but after that, why buy ebooks? Nearly everything one would want to read is already on the shadow libraries.

Some people like supporting the authors of the books they read.

		Only a tiny, tiny amount of authors today is making any significant amount of money off book sales; usually at best, book writing is a funnel to more profitable hustles they are engaged in. And of course, many authors are now deceased. If you really want to support quality literary production, pirate the ebooks but support political parties that advocate for UBI.
