This is all solvable with abundance. We could put together nuclear power with solar and desalination and carbon removal.

Let’s start acting more like a kardishev II civilization.

We're not Kardashev II. We're not even Kardashev I. And nuclear and solar are meaningless if we don't reduce fossil fuel use, which we currently aren't doing (quite the opposite, actually). And carbon removal is a red herring.

Yeah i blame most green parties for this situation.

We could have a bunch of nuclear power plants now and be decades ahead in electrification of many aspects of society and industry.

And yet… here we are.

I blame fossil fuel companies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExxonMobil_climate_change_deni...

They're the ones who lied about climate change. They also funded anti-nuclear propaganda.

Where did the greens hold power?

thrance 4 hours ago | parent | prev [-]

The Christian-Democrats signed the end of nuclear power in Germany, not the Greens. Please stop this mindless scapegoating. And electricity is only 30% of our global carbon emissions.

And Angela Merkel held onto the phase-out of nuclear power plants all the way until her final term ending in december 2020.
