I’m terribly sorry. I lost my wife to metastatic melanoma.

It’s hard as in 2013, the treatment was “get your affairs in order”. In 2023 her chances were 60/40 due to immunotherapy. Unfortunately she ended up on the wrong side of those odds. Today, the Moderna trials are improving those outcomes significantly, and I think that cancer will be fully treatable in a decade or so.

It’s almost a miracle… but the road to “better” is built on the shoulders of those who came before. I find it both a source of hope and of regret for what could have been.
