They did in fact put radioactive elements in everyday objects back when it was first discovered. Wikipedia has a whole page of "radioactive quackery." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive_quackery While nuclear power is not intrinsically anti human you can't really separate the public perception of nuclear power and that of nuclear weapons.
