There do seem to be pretty wildly varying views on how heavily it is used and what value it is providing. I see a lot of people getting a lot of value from it, and some people avoiding it like the plague. I think it's getting to be a more divisive topic over time, as well.

It also seems to be fast moving and emotionally charged enough that there is often disagreement on what should be fairly objective facts. E.g. whether there is any value to generative AI tools at all, and the magnitude of their impact on the environment.
