Online only diagrams is a hard no for me. I'd rather commit the mermaid and render a png and share that then have another issue with seats/license for critical documentation.

I understand concern behind online only. But, there is also an option to download it as static image. Does it solve the issue for you?

		With the increased instability of global infrastructure, being able to edit locally is critical IMO. Others may feel different.
