I’m not really sure what you’re asking. CEO’s of S&P 500 companies are absolutely expected to perform. Those that perform well ultimately end up at the top of the compensation list. Some who perform poorly are still compensated based on contracts signed due to expectations. This is, needless to say, true of athletes and movie stars as well. Also, yes, the CEO of the median S&P 500 company has a lot more money and livelihoods riding on his or her performance than the Colorado Rockies’ third baseman. So they should be paid less? | ||
