Why put Zohran in the same bag as trump? From what I can see NYC is running pretty well

Look up the definition of populist demagogue.

If fixing potholes and making the city run better is demagogy, I'd take than any day when the alternative is Cuomo or Adams. It's not like they were high-minded public servants looking at the long term

Done. Now what? NYC is still being run pretty well?

gruez 5 hours ago | parent | prev [-]

US was also running "pretty well" under Trump 1

Zohran is not a demagogue. He ran on a platform of fixing real problems that no one else was bothering to fix. And he’s actually doing things.

Democracy is failing because people you don't like are being democratically elected. The opposite would indeedn be failure.

Democracy is failing because people who are objectively idiots are being elected.

> Populist demagogues from Trump to Zohran are getting elected.

That is quite the comparison. It also doesn't seem correct at all. What world are you living in where Zohran is a populist demagogue?

Capitalist progressives unfortunately do view anything toward the left as (false) populism. Steven Pinker and the like. Even the main Democrat party does too, look at what they framed Bernie as. They manufacture such truths. As elites.

N.b. if you look up 'populism' on Wikipedia a huge portion of the page explains the contested term is sociologically vague and did not have the negative connotation it does in mainstream discourse. Most people are not aware of this.

> Trump to Zohran

Pointless, incredibly bad faith bothsideism. Zohran was the only one in the NYC mayoral race to believe in actual democracy. Cuomo's whole campaign was "elect me because the other guy is a muslim, and I won't do anything during my mandate, like the previous mayor". Zohran did actual campaigning on issues the electorate cared about, and so far has delivered on his promises.

> and so far has delivered on his promises.

I don’t see news about what he has accomplished. Can you give a few examples?

It's crazy how bad media coverage is. All I can find are naked hitjobs by zionist rags and corporate news siding with Amazon over NY delivery subcontractors, that Mamdani is currently seeking to make into actual Amazon employees.

In short: he has balanced the city budget with a 2% tax increase on millionaires, matching New Jersey. He's moving to give every family free childcare. He has frozen rent for rent-controlled housing, and planning the construction of 200,000 more such apartments. He's fixing potholes (that part went viral, for some reason). And more.

Support is up in every demographics, including Jewish New Yorkers, that corpo dems were insisting would be threatened under Mamdani, in a cynical attempt at instrumenting islamophobia to win the election for their do-nothing candidate instead. Crime is down.
