In my country there are two parties always being elected. Quite similar to US system. It's always first saying "elect us, otherwise second will win" and the second saying the opposite.

Asymptotically those parties go the same way, but always introducing new laws that improve oppression-style control, explaining that those others must be controlled. And the voters accept the solution, but do not understand that the next year the second party will come and use the solution.
