For you, the major meaningful act of baking homemade cookies is picking out a recipe and shopping for ingredients?

Not the actual act of baking? Or having someone come home and say "WOW IT SMELLS GOOD IN HERE"...or taking it around to your friends/family/neighbors and sharing what you made?

If you feel automating those initial steps removes all meaningfulness from the act, what do you feel about people who just buy a package of cookies from a supermarket?
